“What the clouds don't say”, the long journey

"What the clouds don't say“, Due out at the end of November, tells the journey of a sixteen year old. It is not a question of a common journey, but of the search for one's origins. Antony (Lorenzo Cassol) has been an orphan since the age of one and lives in California with his uncle. He has no memories of his parents. The only bridge with the past is an icon bought by the father and mother when they met in Europe. Antony decides to leave with this one clue to try to learn more about his past. This research will take him far, both in the physical dimension and in the interior one. In fact, during the film, Antony constantly clashes with his own subconscious, a clash that has the meaning of growth, the transition from adolescence to adulthood.

A beautiful film, such as has not been seen for a long time

“What the clouds don't say” is the second film by this young director, Marco Recalchi, who also takes care of photography. The photography is very accurate and the shots are fantastic, also thanks to the chosen locations. The landscape is a bit like the clock of this film, which marks the time of the journey. Thus from the desert landscape of California, we pass to the water of Venice, to then return to the barren lands of Greece. In some moments a reference to the shots of Salvatores in “Mediterraneo” is spontaneous. The nature that surrounds the protagonist has in fact a central role and flows in the background like the words in a poem. With “What the clouds don't say”, Marco Recalchi uses the model of the “on the road” story, expanding the boundaries of the genre. From an asphalt road, in fact, you pass to the highway of the mind, a ring in which Antony fights his fears. It's a must see movie, which brings with it the best lessons of Italian cinema.
