The third weekend will be the busiest of the entire summer, with constantly increasing traffic following the closure of most of the country's businesses in the week of August.
According to "Viabilità Italia" there is a clear increase in travel from large urban centers throughout Italy towards holiday resorts, seaside in the south and mountains in the north and towards the state borders.
To facilitate the fluidity of traffic, Anas has strengthened its staff throughout the national territory, limiting the presence of construction sites until September 3rd, suspending 906 of them, i.e. 70%.
Where tourists go
Most tourists move towards southern Italy, particularly along the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Ionian ridges, but also towards the border crossings in the direction of France, Slovenia and Croatia, and leaving urban centers.
Furthermore, a consistent flow of traffic is expected near urban centres, especially starting from late afternoon on Sunday, coinciding with weekend returns.
