Okay, it can happen to everyone to forget some anniversary, appointment or birthday ... but we have to make an extra effort to remember Mother's Day. Therefore, on May 13th, only one mantra will be valid: long live mom!
Mark it on the calendar, highlight it or circle it in red on the agenda, write a post-it or a note on your mobile phone: Mother's Day is an event that cannot be missed.
Probably our mothers could forgive the eventual forgetfulness… but we will now see the 7 good reasons to celebrate them today and always.
1. Long live mum because: the party has very ancient origins
… So why interrupt the tradition? According to some scholars it would be linked to a primordial life-bearing deity, the Great Mother, dating back even to the Neolithic.
Not to mention the festivals in honor of the female deities of the ancient Greeks and Romans, for example the Greek goddess Demeter, the goddess Request of the Romans.
2. Long live mom because: the celebration has a profound meaning
Not everyone knows that the party was not established by US President Woodrow Wilson, as was thought until a few decades ago. Instead it was the feminist Anna Jarvis to inspire his birth when, on May 10, 1908, he organized a party in honor of his mother and all American mothers. The purposes were admirable:
- promote information among women about the fight against childhood diseases;
- improve hygiene conditions during childbirth.
Unfortunately today the party has become almost purely commercial but we must not forget the humanitarian and social purposes that inspired its institution.
3. Long live mom because: it is the origin of life
Perhaps the most banal and obvious reason but why not consider it? For nine months each mother carries her baby in her womb and her life afterwards will never be the same again.
Definitely an unforgettable experience!
4. Long live mom because: she always has so much to teach
No one knows how, but moms have the strange power of knowing a lot more than any of us can imagine. Sometimes it happens that out of haste or distraction, we don't pay much attention to what they say ... We should listen to them more, definitely!
5. Long live mom because: she is a super woman!
Mum is not just mum, she manages to take care of everything:
- from home care to work commitments,
- from family to relationships with friends.
It is truly a concentrate of strength, courage and determination!
But the fact remains that it should not be left alone. Even a small gesture, like helping out in the kitchen, can help her to shake off the natural tiredness that even a "wonder woman" can feel!
6. Long live mom because: her main dish is inimitable
No famous restaurant will be able to beat the main dish of every mother. Whether it's a first course, a second course or a dessert, it makes no difference: she will always use that secret ingredient that makes every dish a real delight. Could it be love?
7. Long live mom because: there will always be
In each of our victories, but also and above all in our defeats and in dark moments, our mother is our first supporter. It is our strength and gives us courage, as well as being a precious gift for grandchildren. From applause!
