Presented aapplication o app which allows you to make a real virtual tour of cathedral and Diocesan Museum of Catania, along with other buildings. Let's discover it together.
The virtual tour with the Mudismart app
Previewed last September 17th, on the occasion of the installation of the exhibition dedicated to the Madonna dell'Idria, the application that allows the user to take a real tour virtual of the diocesan museum, rich in precious works and the cathedral of Catania, including the chapel of Sant'Agata.
The app in question is called Mudismart; it was actually created by BBS – common sense technology – of Brescia, under the impetus and direction of the Superintendency of Cultural and Environmental Heritage of Catania and the Diocesan Museum.
Mudismart, the touch and go connected museum allows the visitor to live a 3D experience visiting places on a giant holographic screen.

The quality characteristics
This is an innovative experiential and interactive journey, unprecedented in its scope, with a cultural, educational, and artistic value.
The path includes several high-engagement components:
• Multimedia digital archive of all the Museum's works and external cultural assets, in 5 languages, and can be updated independently by the designated operators.
• A Leap Motion station with a holographic screen, located on the upper floor, allows you to virtually visit the Cathedral using hand gestures. The cathedral developed by experts in 3D Virtual Reality Design, can be visited both inside and outside by activating pop-up information panels.
• 50 Audio Guide TabletsThe visitor can choose to be accompanied by two exceptional hosts: the Bishop Angerio and Maria de Avila, played by actors, who converse with each other and also describe the works along the way. The device allows you to consult the entire catalog of works and access further information through QR codes placed next to the works in the rooms;
• Two interactive tables Dedicated to the youngest visitors, these are located in the museum's classroom, where they can find all the works in the catalogue and fun educational games to engage them in the visit.
Mudismart's innovative path
The novelty lies in the fact that the platform developed by BBS is scalable and modular. In addition to being deployable across a wide range of locations and works that could be directly connected, it can manage various types of interactive software and hardware technologies: holograms, touch screens, immersive audio, virtual reality headsets, beacons, NFC, QR codes, etc. This allows for the highest level of experiential and informative engagement for all audiences: adults, children, tourists, students, and professionals.
Inside the cathedral
Catania Cathedral becomes a place to experience and learn even more thanks to this immersive tour.
The tour allows you to explore the entire cathedral in 360° and access 12 points of interest: from the Gate, an invitation to a meeting, to the Sacellum of Saint Agatha, also virtually open to all visitors, to the sacristy, which displays a fresco depicting the 1669 eruption of Mount Etna.
Mudismart is the multimedia project contemporary to the exhibition and which starts the process for the so-called digital revolution applied to the artistic-cultural sector.
Thanks to the technology developed by BBS, a sort of regional museum circuit could be created to showcase all the precious works housed not only in Catania but throughout our island.
