Towards the immense public and critical success of Mario da Corgeno's exhibition, held these days at Palazzo Pirelli in Milan. In the headquarters of the Lombardy Region, the internationally renowned artist exhibited both paintings and sculptures: works that amply represent his creativity, his talent as a painter and sculptor who finds its best expression in art, the most appropriate way to converse in an increasingly difficult and complicated world like the one we live in. The exhibition event, sponsored by Lombardy Regional Council, was organized with the collaboration of the association In Valbossa.
Towards the immense
From the terrace of thePirellone", the artistic creations have dominated the greater Milan, providing visitors with many ideas for reflection on human existence, considered not only in its materiality but above all for its spiritual dimension. A continuous interweaving of immanence and transcendence, of physical pain and sublimation of suffering with the strong yearning of the soul oriented towards the immense. The search for the self, for 'who I am', for 'what I do in this world' reaches a hyperuranic goal. It is catharsis, which frees from all afflictions, which lightens the mind and body from all the tribulations of this troubled existence. A path that takes shape with the lived features of the portraits and with the use of different materials: from wood to bronze, to marble.
Mario of Corgeno
Mario Favini, aka Mario da Corgeno, name chosen in homage to his native town, he lives in a large farmhouse immersed in the Varesotto countryside. In truth, her house with the magnificent nature that surrounds it is an open-air museum that instills a sense of peace and amazement in those who find themselves exploring her 'artistic universe'. An amazement that is given by the beauty of the works and by the passion of the artist who kindly welcomes the many visitors who continually visit the farmhouse of Vergiate. Mario is almost reluctant to talk about himself; his shyness assails him and every time he is moved to describe one of his sculptures or a drawing of his.
The artist lets his works speak which, 'cloaked by mother nature', become a unique col landscape, tangible signs of an idea that materializes and that depicts, through them, the beauty of creation. All this without ever neglecting the complexity of the creature par excellence: man. Mario Favini as a young man studied in Milan, where he was a pupil of the painter Adriano Gajoni, teacher ofBrera Academy. Just his professor reported it to the great Peter Annigoni, called the 'painter of queens', thanks to which he completed his artistic training.
Today, at the age of 77, Mario da Corgeno can well be defined as a creative spirit who has narrated the world with the courses and recurrences of history, with the many faces of a humanity which, cyclically, sinks into the darkness of its existential crises and then reborn to new life. A plastic, multi-material and polychromatic narration, with a very specific leitmotif: the ability to still feel amazement, to be moved, to be moved and therefore to excite. As only true artists can do!
