The pandemic seems to be a distant memory in Venice, which records dizzying numbers. There desire of tourists to return to enjoy the beauties of the lagoon it is very clear. On the weekend of Easter 110 people were registered on Fridays, 160 on Saturdays, 140 on Easter Sunday and about 100 on Easter Monday. Booked hotels, queues everywhere between restaurants, attractions and ferries, with great interest especially for the islands. A sudden return to unthinkable figures, considering the last two years. The local police chief, Marco Agostini, spoke of "delirium". All this will have consequences on tourism management. An immediate experimental counter-move, which will become the rule in some time.
Venice by reservation
The mayor of Venice, Louis Brugnaro, is ready to move on to countermeasures. He explained how it is now clear to everyone the need to make it lagoon city accessible by reservation for non-residents. The flow of tourism needs to be balanced.
An experiment that sees Venice open a new path on a global level. In the coming weeks, the site will be presented that will allow you to book your access to the city. A procedure that will exclude the residents but not the Venetians as a whole. For them there will be only an exemption from the foreseen contribution. In fact, you will have to pay a ticket to access the beauties of Venice. A figure to be agreed, which will enter in force since 2023. The administration has in fact preferred not to rage on the tourism sector at this stage, considering the two years of the pandemic.
The introduction of possible penalties for anyone who should bypass bookings cannot be excluded. It is not yet clear whether there will be a customs clearance, so to speak, or if random checks will continue in the more touristic areas. And again, checks in the places of attraction, with the following notification in case of missing booking document. Everything will depend on any legal-administrative checks.
Super important info! Thanks 😉
I love this city 😍
