For the sixth time the master of Cutrofiano (Le) Joseph Colì is classified world champion in the 36th edition of the “Gino Geminiani” World Lathe Championships, demonstration in which the potters participate from from various countries of the world, in particular from Japan, France, Spain and Türkiye.
The championship takes place every year in a different Italian city with a great tradition in the field of ceramics and this year it took place in Faenza, in the province of Ravenna.
The event saw the 44 year old craftsman from Cutrofiano (Le) as world champion of the Master Technician for the sixth time Joseph Colì, who challenged and beat the greatest master potters, proving to be the best turner in the competition, making a cylinder 92,5 centimeters high and a bowl with a width of 80,5 centimeters, each potter had 7 kilograms of clay available and had to make the widest and tallest bowl possible.
Who is Giuseppe Colì?
Giuseppe Colì is a family tradition in fact it was formed in the family business Fratelli Colì, where his passion came to life, born when he was a child, during the summer, during the period in which he played at working with clay.
The turning point came around the age of 15, when he discovered that this passion could become a real job in which he developed an artistic sense that made his creations unique, also collaborating with important artists such as Antonio Marras, an internationally renowned fashion designer.
