Covid vaccines under 60, whoever took the first dose with Astrazeneca will do the second with Pfizer or Moderna. In this regard, the Ministry of Health issued the circular of 'Update of the opinion of the CTS on vaccines". The document states that AstraZeneca's Vaxzevria vaccine "is only given to people aged 60 and over". For people who have received the first dose of this vaccine and are under 60 years of age, “the course should be completed with a second dose of mRNA vaccine (Comirnaty or Moderna). Dose to be administered 8-12 weeks after the first ".
Vaccines under 60, the new provisions
There are about 900 thousand Italians under the age of 60 who have had the first dose of vaccine with Astrazeneca and now they will have to carry out the booster with Pfizer or Moderna. The recalls, as reiterated in the circular of the ministry of health, will be made respecting the time frame initially foreseen for Astrazeneca. So this is 8-12 weeks after the first dose. The single-dose Janssen (Johnson & Johnson) vaccine is recommended for individuals over 60 years of age. This in the light of what was defined by the Aifa Technical Scientific Commission.
The Technical Scientific Committee (Cts) “recommends that the regions, when organizing events such as the open day to increase the vaccination campaign, respect the indications for age groups. Furthermore, it is requested that the approach to vaccination be homogeneous throughout the national territory ". As for the spread of the virus in our country, according to ministerial data, there are 1.723 new positive cases today (yesterday 1.901). The deaths of the last 24 hours are 52 (yesterday 69). The discharged healed are 4.500 (yesterday 5.893) while the currently positive cases are 162.409 (yesterday 165.239). The swabs made in the last 24 hours are 212.966 (yesterday 217.610); the ICU patients are 574 (yesterday 597). They still remain in home isolation 158.180 people infected with the virus (160.766 yesterday)
