After successfully finishing the 1 phase, Reithera vaccine can finally switch to 2 phase, or rather that of experimentation. This will be possible thanks to funding from 81 million euro received from Invitalia, national agency for investment attraction and business development. The Development contract was signed last 26st January and this will allow our local company to continue developing the vaccine without problems. The special emergency commissioner is satisfied Covid-19, as well as CEO of Invitalia, Dominic Arcuri, who stated: "It is an important agreement to reduce the dependence of our country in a very delicate sector for the protection of the health of our citizens. The Italian production of vaccines will add to those carried out abroad, strengthening the national response capacity to the pandemic and thus accelerating the exit from the crisis».
Funds for the Reithera vaccine: what the contract provides
As reported by Invitalia in a press release, most of the financing (69,3 million euro) will be allocated to the sector Research and development. This fund will in fact be used for the validation and production of the Reithera vaccine. The remaining ones 11,7 million they will be used for the expansion of the factory in Roman Castle. Invitalia's entire investment will therefore be used for the production of approx 100 million doses of vaccine per year (but also for 40 new hires). If everything were to proceed as planned by the company, the 3 phase it could end by the summer. If that were to happen, Italy could become self-sufficient in the production of vaccines and should no longer rely on other vaccines produced by foreign pharmaceutical companies.
Johnson & Johnson vaccine soon approved by EMA?
Pending the arrival of the ReiThera vaccine and the resolution of the problems related to sending the doses Pfizer e AstraZeneca,Europe it could bet on others antiCovid drugs, as the Johnson & Johnson vaccine. Although the US company has not yet requested the authorization to trade inEMA, this could happen very soon. To confirm it is the same Domenico Arcuri who, to the microphones of radio 2, stated that "the Johnson & Jonshon vaccine is upon us". The request might arrive as early as February, although nothing is yet certain. Although he always remains hopeful that Italy can achieve herd immunity by the autumn, Arcuri has already passed on to theUe the warning against Pfizer for the reduction of vaccine doses destined for Italy. The next arrival of ReiThera, Johnson & Johnson vaccines, Sputnik VU could solve the problem of lack of doses but, at the moment, the vaccine plan is proceeding slowly. So we just have to wait for the new authorizations from the EMA.
