In 2024, Italians' main holidays will be distributed mainly between July and August, with a slight preference for September. 27% of Italians chose July, 28% August and 19% September for their main holidays.
This balance between July and August indicates a growing tendency to avoid the overcrowding and high costs typical of the high season. A significant trend it is the growing propensity to avoid holidays in August.

For summer 2024, Italy remains the favorite destination for Italians, with 66% choosing to holiday in their home country. The cruises, although niche, attract 2% of travelers, while a further 5% are still undecided on the destination.
The trend highlights that, although Italy maintains its lead, the European destinations are gaining ground, as is long-haul travel, which is particularly popular in September.
