The Falcone Foundation was established on December 10, 1992 in Palermo, with the aim of promoting the development of a culture based on legality. It is dedicated to keeping alive the memory of those who lost their lives in the fight for justice; it trains young students through a continuous educational path, to inspire and motivate new generations to pursue the values of honesty and legality.
On November 10th, at Malta, in Siġġiewi, a branch of the Falcone Foundation, a bulwark in the fight against organised crime, will be inaugurated. This new centre, marks a historic moment for Malta and is dedicated to the memory of heroic figures, Giovanni Falcone, Paolo Borsellino, Daphne Caruana Galizia, and all victims of organised crime.
Maria Falcone, President of the Foundation and sister of the magistrate Giovanni Falcone, tragically murdered by Cosa Nostra in 1992, will lead a delegation on the island from 8 to 11 November. The ceremony will be attended by prominent figures, including Her Excellency Myriam Spiteri Debono, President of the Republic of Malta, and Monsignor Charles Jude Scicluna, Archbishop of Malta. Vincenzo Di Fresco, Director of the Museum of the Present “Giovanni Falcone and Paolo Borsellino” project, and Alessandro De Lisi, General Curator of the Falcone Foundation, will also be present. Notary Robert Aquilina, a fervent defender of justice in Malta since the assassination of journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia, will represent the Foundation.
The new headquarters is not only a monument to memory, but also a reference for new cultural and social initiatives aimed at fighting the mafia and promoting legality. The opening of this new chapter, in Malta, in the history of the Falcone Foundation, is a sign of hope and a call to action for all those who believe in a more just world.
