Live a unique experience, even a little spiritual, to discover the landscapes naturalistic that we have in our peninsula. Like? Crossing Italy and the major ones historic houses parks existing, to promote the culture of the environment and biodiversity. The agreement signed in recent weeks between the Ministry of the Environment and the CAI, the Italian Alpine Club, has a very specific purpose. In fact, in our peninsula a "Path of the parks" will be born, a sort of Camino de Santiago which will allow those who wish to undertake it to discover the naturalistic wonders of Italy.
A Walk through 25 Italian parks
The agreement is aimed at spreading the culture of the environment, biodiversity and sustainable development. But also to enhance and relaunch the paths in the areas protected, favoring the conscious use of the territories. The birth of the "Path of the Parks" was launched on the occasion of the European Day of Parks, last 24 May.
The agreement between the ministry and the CAI for the journey
The Italian route between parks and reserves is therefore part of a protocol signed between the Ministry of the Environment and the Italian Alpine Club. And there will also be a symbolic passport for those who will travel it: a tool where the stages reached will be indicated and will serve to reward those who have completed the entire itinerary through the boot. A sustainable tourism that will also serve to enhance the Italian spirit, through the discovery of local culture and economies. The route takes its cue from the Italian path of the Cai, which through 7000 kilometers connects all our regions from the Alps along the ridge of the Apennines. An attempt will be made to connect all 25 existing Italian parks between woods and mountains. From Santa Teresa Gallura, in the north of Sardinia, to Muggia, in the province of Trieste.
"Un itinerario excursion that will touch all 25 national parks of our country, which will have as its backbone the current Path Italy CAI - explains the Minister of the Environment Sergio Costa -. National parks are a treasure chest of nature: their conservation must be guaranteed, but also their usability. The attention reserved with the budget law - a good 35 million euros in the period 2020-2033 - for the maintenance and strengthening of path networks in protected areas together with this agreement with the CAI are important signs of how much we care about our priceless heritage of biodiversity and its enhancement in terms of sustainable tourism, especially in this period of post-Covid recovery in which we all feel the need to be more outside".
A unique opportunity
"One more opportunity - declares the general president of the Club Vincenzo Torti -, to be offered to those who want to experience nature in a guided way through the paths that the Cai describes and maintains. And consequently to promote our country even more".
The Camino de Santiago
The Path of the Parks has been called the Italian Camino de Santiago. The original one, in Spain, is one of the most famous and perhaps the oldest. Eight hundred kilometers to travel in spirituality, in solitude or in company towards the Sanctuary of Santiago de Compostela where the tomb of the Apostle James the Greater is located. Each pilgrim who intends to make the journey is assigned a card with the pilgrim's credentials. The stages and the route are marked on it. It is a sort of fundamental document during the journey and for receiving hospitality. The park trail will also have this sort of passport. A tool designed to help those who will start the itinerary.
Ready to leave for the Italian journey
Armed with a backpack, with useful equipment to travel along winding paths, nature lovers can therefore prepare themselves for an extraordinary experience. But all travelers and anyone who wants to discover the Italian wonders of the environment can also do it. Without going very far, but immersing yourself in the mountains and Italian parks.
