From today until June 2, the tricolor Frecce will fly over the skies of Italy to celebrate the proclamation of the Republic. Due to the ongoing health emergency, the June 2 celebrations will undergo significant changes.
The 74th Republican party must necessarily do without large public demonstrations. As required by the security measures against the spread of the Coronavirus pandemic. However, June 2 remains a choral party which, even if only virtually, stands as a "sign of unity, solidarity and recovery". An important moment to rediscover national pride in a country mortally wounded by the pandemic.
The Frecce Tricolori on the skies of Italy
The Giro d'Italia of the national acrobatic team (Pan) starts today, May 25th. In the next 5 days it will touch many regional capitals, from one end of the peninsula to the other. Pan is planning a real tour of the Italian skies which is meant to be a symbolic hug to the whole nation.
Flying over Codogno, the first red zone of the Covid-19 emergency
Today the acrobatic team takes off from Rivolto, home of the Frecce Tricolori, to go to realize the first overflight in Codogno, the Lombard town that was the first 'red zone' hit by the Coronavirus pandemic. After Codogno it will be the turn of Piazza Duomo in Milan, another symbol of the emergency Covid-19 which has indelibly marked Lombardy and the whole country. The stunts of the first day will also fly over the skies of Turin and Aosta.
The acrobatic tour from north to south
Tomorrow, May 26, the Pan will fly to Florence, Perugia and L'Aquila. And then a whole week of stunts. The other Italian cities chosen for this particular celebration are Cagliari and Palermo, Catanzaro, Bari, Potenza, Naples and Campobasso. The Frecce will also fly to Loreto, where the homonymous sanctuary of the Madonna patron of the air force is located. The tour also includes flyovers over Ancona, Bologna, Venice and Trieste.
The Arrows will fly over the capital on 2 June
The acrobatic flights of the Pan will end on the sky of Rome on 2 June next Republic Day. Again due to the restrictions imposed by the measures to combat the spread of Covid-19, no parade is expected this year Armed forces along the Imperial Forums.
For the 74th anniversary of republican Italy, however, the great show of the Pan will not be given up. The planes will fly over the sky of the capital while the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella, will place a laurel wreath on the Altare della Patria.
