An enormous fire is bringing a famous tourist area of Salento to its knees on this windy afternoon of Monday 2 October: Santa Cesarea Terme.
The flames are fueled by the strong Tramontana and are affecting the northern part of the town of the Salento municipality. Unfortunately the fire is touching the homes near the Belvedere pine forest. The fire is also close to the headquarters of the "Aldo Moro" hotel institute. The vast fire is affecting the entire pine forest of Santa Cesarea Terme.
Arif personnel, firefighters and civil protection, local police and carabinieri are at work on site. In the meantime, the access roads to the town are temporarily blocked. Below, some photos from the web.
