Palazzo Madama in Turin, the exhibition dedicated to Margherita of Savoy, the first Queen of United Italy, is underway. It is a rich itinerary with over seventy works of art, including portraits, paintings, sculptures, clothes and jewels, musical instruments, manuscripts, tapestries and furniture. A journey through history that tells the story of the Queen of Italy in relation to her time and her people. She narrates her being her mother, style icon, champion of art and culture, benefactress, woman interested in the new and modernity.

Margherita first queen of united Italy

The exhibition which will go on until next January, is coordinated by Maria Paola Ruffino, reconstructs his extraordinary figure. From the entrance, with the image of the queen who welcomes us, to the reconstruction of her rooms and her taste, Margherita fully emerges in her personality, with the support of a film created and edited for the exhibition, historical photographs and music from era. The staging, designed by the architect Loredana Iacopino in the room of the first Senate of Italy, develops in narrative nuclei, anticipated in the rooms on the main floor by ten splendid dresses from Mara Bertoli's private collection.

This specific section is edited by Massimiliano Capella. Here you can admire sartorial creations that trace the evolution of style from the fifties of the nineteenth century to the middle of the second decade of the Nine hundred. The exhibition at Palazzo Madama is placed in close relationship with the collections and rooms that belonged to the sovereign in Piedmont: the Queen's library, to which the National University Library of Turin is dedicating a permanent exhibition this year, the apartments in the Royal Palace of Turin and the castle of Agliè.
