Mickey Mouse discovering the Pollino National Park and the Bosnian pine. The well-known Walt Disney character is on the trail of a mysterious key that is accompanied by a sprig of Bosnian pine, arboreal species typical of the green area that extends between Basilicata and Calabria. This is the leitmotif of the story "Mickey and the secret of the Sassi" with drawings by Giampaolo Soldati and the subject and screenplay by Francesco Artibani. The story is included in issue 3494 of the comic on newsstands since November 9th.

Mickey Mouse on the Pollino

Topolino therefore starts from America and arrives on the Pollino massif passing through Matera, the city of the Sassi, to solve yet another investigative case. In the story already on the newsstands there are tables that see the Disney hero among the loricated pines 'unique species in the world', described by Giuseppe Belmonte, a guide of the park. For the Pollino park this is an important promotion that enhances the beauty of an uncontaminated nature; extraordinary green lung on the border between the two suggestive southern regions.

The Bosnian pine

The Bosnian pine (Pinus leucodermis) is a conifer of the territory between Calabria and Lucania, the only two territories where this particular plant can be found. In fact, it grows exclusively on the Pollino Massif and the Orsomarso Mountains, often in inaccessible places and generally between 1000 and 2100 meters above sea level. Although in the Golfo della Serra, in the Argentino Valley, it drops to an altitude of 535 meters.

It is a solitary species, but in some points such as the Serra di Crispo, the Serra delle Ciavole and the Belvedere di Malvento, it forms small sparse woods in which each specimen always grows at a certain distance from the other. The Pollino therefore confirms itself as a favorite destination for lovers of experiential tourism. The largest protected area in Italy lands on the most famous comic strip in the world and thus sees its tourist attractiveness grow considerably. Without forgetting its enormous value from an environmental and naturalistic point of view.
