The Paths of Treasures 2022: the locations
There are 18 places to visit this year for Le Vie dei Tesori 2022. From the Bottega dei Fratelli Napoli (Sat/Sat 15 Oct. 6 pm. Sun/Sun 16 Oct. 11 am, 5 pm. In via Reitano 55) to that of Cartura (Sat/Sat 1, 15, 29 Oct. 4-6:30 pm. Sat/Sat 8 Oct. 10 am-12:30 pm and 4-6:30 pm Sun/Sun 2, 16, 30 Oct. 10 am-12:30 pm in via Passo di Aci 9). The opportunity, once again, to discover Bastion of the Infected and Walls of Charles VSat/Sat 8,15, 22, 29 Oct. Sun/Sun 2 Oct. 10-12.30 and 15-17.30 in via Torre del Vescovo 3.
Il Ega shoe factory At Via della Mecca 6, it once housed the historic Galatola printing house, then a former shoe factory, and now, the artisan workshop of designer Luciana Cavalli. Leather craftsmen will tell you how a designer shoe is created. But the real surprise lies within the building: a secret passageway that will reveal another treasure, the Dusmet small theater, the place where the best actors from Catania made their debut.
Again: the Bonajuto Chapel, a Byzantine jewel of rare beauty, the Ursino Castle with its moat and courtyard and the Crypt of Sant'Euplio. The Amenano Cave, the extraordinary Palazzo Platamone with its courtyard and terraces. The Ardizzone Gioieni Institute for the Blind and the Asmundo Palaces of Gisira and Libertine Scuderi. Catania Historical Society, Villa Manganelli and the Belliniano Civic MuseumAs for churches, there are the Church of San Nicolò l'Arena with its walkway, the Church of Santa Chiara, and the Church of Santa Maria del Gesù. In addition, there are seven other places in Acireale: the Zelantea Library and Art Gallery, the Church of San Benedetto, the Church of San Francesco di Paola, the Church of Sant'Antonio di Padova, and the Church of Santa Maria Maddalena. And also: the Neapolitan nativity scene inside the crypt of the Basilica of San Sebastiano and the Carnival Museum.
Experiences and Walks
To the places, which can be visited through coupons that can be purchased here Or at the info point at the Via Etnea Hub, next to Villa Bellini, there are additional experiences and walks. Among the experiences, we recommend not missing the tomb on Via Antico Corso. The event is scheduled for October 30th, 10:00 am–1:00 pm and 3:00 pm–6:00 pm. Duration: 30 minutes. Contribution: €4, organized by the Antico Corso Committee. Via Trinità in Mascalucia, the splendid village of Acitrezza with its journey of discovery of the master shipwrights, and the multimedia itinerary inside Villa Fortuna. From the ancient Malavoglia port to the boats of Trezzo, to the spontaneous garden by the sea with basalt columns, then the shrine of the Madonna della Provvidenza and the Valastro photography museum. Another gem: this year, Viagrande is added, with the country residence of the Marquises of San Giuliano. Not to be missed.
As for the walks, there are four in total. The first: Etna and its history, the 1928 eruption, the lava flow that destroyed Mascali and approached the seaMeeting point: Magazzeni Church on Sunday, October 23rd at 9:30 am. Duration: 3 hours. Contribution: 6 euros. Organized by ASCD Cepes. The second tour again concerns Etna, in this case the path of Monti Concilio, Grosso, and Gemmellaro up to the eruptive vents. Meeting point: La Ginestra Refuge in Nicolosi. Sunday, October 30th at 9:30 am / Duration: 3 hours. Contribution: 6 euros. Organized by ASCD Cepes.
Urban trekking in Trecastagni with a gathering in Piazza Sant'Alfio scheduled for Saturdays in October. Meeting at 10:00 a.m. Duration 2 hours. Contribution: €6. Organized by Sicilia Gaia. The fourth, also organized by Sicilia Gaia, to discover Viagrande – Viscalori and the allure of the sets. Sundays in October at the parking lot on Via Luigi Paternò Raddusa. 4:30 pm. Duration 2 hours. Contribution: €6.
