Do you know where the smallest cinema in the world is located? It is located in Rome, and is the Children's cinema.
In the 2005 Guinness World Record declared it “the smallest building in the world used for cinema shows”. After a brief summer closure it reopened on 14 September 2023 with a rich programme. The Cinema dei Piccoli is a graceful wooden building that can accommodate around sixty people. As we said it is located in Rome, precisely in Viale Della Pineta, inside the Villa Borghese Park (Porta Pinciana side) – Largo Marcello Mastroianni.
The hall of the smallest cinema in the world was built by Alfredo Annibali in 1934 with the name "House of Mickey Mouse". Near the name sign stood an image of Mickey Mouse with a movie camera. Disney forced the removal of the name "Mickey Mouse", but the image of the character with the camera would remain until the seventies. The hall stopped programming during the Second World War, to reopen immediately afterwards. In 1991 the cinema was restored. The Dei Piccoli Film Festival was inaugurated in 2007, with the contribution of the Lazio Region "for the development and dissemination of quality cinema at the service of children".
