Paola Del Din blows out 100 candles today, the only gold medal for military valor of the Resistance living in Italy, established on May 21, 1793 by the King of Sardinia Vittorio Amedeo III of Savoy. Symbol of the struggle for liberation from Nazi-fascism was the first female Italian military paratrooper. The Prime Minister, Giorgia Meloni, sent her a message of good wishes, thanking her "for her constant testimony of love for the country and for freedom".

Paola Del Din, born in Pieve di Cadore on 22 August 1923, today she celebrates in her home in Sappada (Udine), surrounded by family members. An official celebration will take place for her on 2 September in Udine in the presence of the civil and military authorities. During the Resistance in Friuli-Venezia Giulia, on the death of his brother Renato killed by the Germans, it was renamed with the nom de guerre "Renata" and became an information relay at the request of the Osoppo Brigade and the Allies. She was the only woman to make a jump during the Second World War, which took place on April 9, 1945, and officially the first female Italian military paratrooper. He launched into an area of Friuli but broke his ankle upon landing. However, she still managed to complete the mission that she had been entrusted to her: to deliver the secret documents that she had with her.
