The night of the poets among the ancient ruins of Nora in Sardinia

The "Night of the Poets" festival is in full swing in Nora, one of the most important archaeological areas in Sardinia. Rereadings of masterpieces, recitals, performances, original choreographies. The 2023 edition of The night of the poets organized by Cedac, rekindles the spotlight on a scenario full of charm and history.

Eleven titles on the bill until 28 July next, on a stage that leaves the sea behind among the ruins of Nora, an ancient Phoenician-Punic and then Roman city. On stage, among others, one of the most popular interpreters of Italian theater and cinema Elio Germano and the musician and composer Teho Teardo with the Pasolinian "The Dream of a Thing". But we start and end with the classics. "The best way to respect the sacredness of the place", underlined the president of Cedac Antonio Cabiddu.

The festival started with the “Prometheus" of Aeschylus with the actors of Pem directed by Gabriele Vacis, one of the most interesting Italian directors of the second half of the 900th century. To animate the night of poets also Marco Menegoni with "Liber Secundus: Ilium burns” from”Aeneid" of Virgil, scheduled for July 14th. The finale is entrusted to I Sacchi di Sabbia and Massimiliano Civica for an unprecedented version of the "7 against Thebesby Aeschylus. The performance is scheduled for July 28.

Among the ancient ruins of Nora

On the bill also a look at contemporary fears instead with Arianna Porcelli Safonov in “Faithphobia“, ironic and engaging one-woman show. The tribute to Ezio Bosso with “Liberamusica-Body and Harmony” with the actress and pianist Guenda Goria. And, again, the sports reporter Federico Buffa talks about three Argentine champions (Cesarini, Sivori and Maradona) in "La Milonga del Fùtbol". And then the psychiatrist-writer Paolo Crepet arrives among the ruins of Nora with the “Comizi d'Amore Contemporanei”.

Between dance and words on July 27 "a triple site specific appointment", highlighted the artistic director Valeria Ciabattoni. First date with "Children", choreography by and with Roberta Maimone and Roberta Riontino on the theme of childhood innocence. Follows "Gracefully“, page reads of Grazia Deledda edited by Rossella Dassu. To finish with “Shocking” by and with Francesca La Cava and Giorgia Maddamma, between the pink flamingos and the shock of the pandemic, to rediscover the freedom of flight.
