The Armani Group announces the Apulia Regenerative Cotton project for the production of regenerative agroforestry cotton in Puglia. It is a design process in collaboration with the Fashion Task Force of the Sustainable Markets Initiative and the Circular Bioeconomy Alliance, both founded by His Majesty King Charles III.

Regenerative cotton

The project is coordinated by'European Forestry Institute (EFI) together with the Italian Research Council for the 'Agriculture and Economy (CREA) and with mechanical Pretaterra. The goal is to develop a first-of-its-kind agroforestry cotton experimental site to scientifically test and evaluate new ways to implement sustainable cotton production in Italy. This aiming to enhance the landscape diversity, the water and soil quality, as well as the ecosystem services related to the biodiversity producing cotton with a low carbon footprint. And using trees through agroforestry systems.

"The textile industry has a great environmental impact on our planet. A problem that should not be overlooked. Our commitment, together with the Sustainable Markets Initiative is to promote positive change. Actively participating in the development of regenerative agroforestry cotton, moreover on the Italian territory, is an important step. A first step that will also have a real impact on local communities. Regenerative fashion, from utopia that it was, is finally starting to take on tangible characteristics”. These are the considerations of Giorgio Armani, an Italian designer appreciated all over the world.
