The image one has of Thailand is often linked to tourist attractions such as pristine beaches and crystal clear waters filled with marine life. But Thailand is also an emerging economic power. For this reason, the Italian Embassy in Bangkok, in collaboration with the Farnesina, has decided to organize the Italian Festival in Thailand 2016, a series of cultural events. started last January and will end in December. The purpose of the festival is to make the Asian country known in all its facets.
50 events over twelve months, with music, art and cinema
The list of events is very long. They range from the Giovanni Allevi concert to the jazz notes of Enrico Rava, from contemporary art to architecture and design workshops, from tributes to Fellini and Mastroianni to the latest Italian films. During these months Bangkok has been conquered by the charm of our culture, expanding the bridges that connect the two countries. But there are still many events scheduled until December. Among these are the contemporary art exhibitions of Keziat and Voci and a lot of jazz music, art and archeology.
Thailand: a unique opportunity for Italy
As the Italian Ambassador to Thailand Francesco Saverio Nisio explained: Bangkok, which now exceeds 15 million inhabitants, is a dynamic hub in central Asia. Far from the stereotypes of all beaches and pagodas. Here the dynamism is as dizzying as the multiplying skyscrapers and the first level cultural competition. A country like Italy must use soft power to promote its image. Attracting sympathies, visitors, investments and contracts.
The festival, financed by companies from both countries, has therefore already partially achieved its purpose. Strengthen the cultural and economic exchange between Italy and Thailand also thanks to the huge participation by the public
