After the 5.7 magnitude earthquake that affected the Adriatic coast of the Marche this morning, the fire brigade teams are engaged in 50 interventions. The objective is to verify the stability of some buildings in the territories of the provinces of Pesaro Urbino and Ancona. At the moment, the firefighters let them know, no particular critical issues are reported. The helicopters of the Pescara flight departments and Bologna for a check from above of the areas affected by the earthquake.

Earthquake in the Marche

There are two very strong earthquakes, felt shortly after 7 am between Ancona, Fano and Urbino. The strongest was of magnitude 5.7 at 7.07; followed by another of magnitude 4 at 7.12. The tremors were located by the National Institute of Geophysics and Volcanology off the coast of the Marche-Pesaro area. Out of fear, many people poured into the streets, abandoning their homes. Railway traffic suspended as a precaution near Ancona, on the Adriatic line, due to suspected damage to the tracks and to carry out checks after the earthquakes this morning.

In several cities of the Marche they have been as a precaution, school and university lessons were suspended. In particular a Fano, Pesaro, Senigallia and Ancona schools of all levels and levels are closed. No tsunami risk

"Just 6 minutes after the earthquake, the Tsunami Alert Center issued an information message, which is not a warning message but informs that there was an earthquake to activate the controls along the coasts". This was stated by Alessandro Amato of Ingv, who coordinates the tsunami alert center, underlining that, at present "The risk is not there". “It would have been there with a stronger magnitude of 6.5. The message we have issued is activated by earthquakes of 5.5 at sea or along the coast in Mediterranean. If there had been a tsunami it would have developed a few minutes later ”.
