Saturday 28 September took place the very first edition of the TEDx of the city of Mestre. On the chosen theme, that of awakening, the public was able to get to know interesting ideas and gain new experiences thanks to the numerous activities proposed.
TEDx and ideas in circulation
Il American model of TEDx is now widespread all over the world. In fact, every day, somewhere on our planet, one of these conferences is probably taking place. The motto is "ideas that deserve to be disseminated”And the organization, as well as the aspect of the day, is highly recognizable. For example, the red TEDx writing and the white city writing, the red button on which the speaker alternate, each with 18 minutes of time.
The speakers are always new (it is not possible to participate in more than one TEDx), they must stick to the theme chosen by the organizers but sharing their experience or expertise. Dealing with politics and religion is prohibited. Organizers and speakers give their hard work totally free. Here in Mestre the event took place at Museum M9, in the auditorium and in its external courtyard, and involved about 800 people during the day. Soon on the YouTube channel you will find all the videos of speech, as per the consolidated TEDx tradition, awaiting the 2020 edition.
The day at TEDx Mestre
Twelve side events in between workshops, tastings, round tables and activities for children, have seen numerous inscriptions and an enthusiastic public, including architecture, hiking, yoga and writing. There conference TEDx instead started at 15 pm. The rich man welcome kit offered to guests shows the amount of collaborations and creative energy that has set up such an innovative event. The auditorium filled up quickly and the master of ceremonies, the storyteller Andrea Bettini, immediately kicked off the conference by explaining the theme. Awakening is that phase between inertia and activity which, as in the intentions of the organizers, coincides with an awareness. Even the contemporary dance of Venice Ballet and funky music reinterpreted in a modern way of the Funkasin they offered the audience their own interpretation of the awakening.
With the closing of the works at 19.30 thefinal aperitif, offered by technical sponsors. A convivial moment to intercept the speakers and be able to interact with them.
From architecture to psychology, passing through drones
Philip Ongaro, health and performance coach and former ESA doctor, he opened the dance regarding the nine speech of the day; with him we discussed how our choices determine successes and unhappiness. Following the architect Alexander Melis he described some visionary architectures of the cities of the future imagined by his students at the University of Portsmouth. The third speaker he was also the youngest: the nineteen year old from Turin Alexia Russo he told how drones, which his American company deals with, will be increasingly used in our daily life. Lecturer at Ca 'Foscari University of Venice and psychologist Ivana Padoan he talked about the epistemology of complexity and the difference between feeling and understanding; closing with Joseph Riva the uses of transformative technology for individual and social well-being were explored.
Technology, art, nature and business
After the coffee break we got back to the heart of the school imagined by Lorenzo Busi di Big Rock (a computer graphics school), where lessons are also taught with virtual reality for young people who increasingly love to watch and learn through videos. Following the story of the entrepreneur Serenella Antoniazzi and his mantra "I must not fail", which also led to the establishment of a state fund to protect companies destroyed by their creditors. The last two speakers instead took us into the world of the mountains. Gianluca D'Inca Levis, creator of Contemporary Dolomites, he told about abandoned mountain places and their awakening projects through art and research. To end the day andrea bianchi explained the benefits of walking barefoot and how the feet, always forced inside our shoes, deserve a real awakening.
