One is planned significant reduction in the amount of the Teacher's Card starting from the next school year, bringing the benefit from 500 euros net to a figure between 400 and 420 euros (the exact amount is still being calculated). This change will be implemented unless there are sudden last-minute changes. The current Budget Law does not provide for the allocation of funds for the maintenance of the current amount of 500 euros, which was established with law 107/2015.
Teacher's Card bonus reduction
Unfortunately, at the moment, there does not appear to be a concrete plan to allocate additional funds in order to keep the amount at 500 euros, which represents a essential bonus for training andupdating of school staff. To maintain the current value of 500 euros, additional funding would be needed, estimated at 30 million euros for 2024 and 61 million euros from 2025. However, such funding was not included in the budget package for the 2024.
It is important to underline that Decree 36/2022 had already contemplated a revision of the funding ceiling allocated annually for teachers. Previously, an agreement had preserved the amount unchanged until the 2023/2024 school year.
