The animated film Super Mario Bros. has literally conquered the world, registering an astonishing success at the box office. Based on the famous characters from the Nintendo video game, the film broke all box office records, grossing more than $377 million worldwide. In the US, he managed to set a new record with more than $204 million raised in just 5 days. Among the protagonists of this triumph there is an icon of Made in Italy: Super Mario, the likeable Italian plumber who made young and old fall in love.

Super Mario, with his unmistakable moustache, red hat and blue overalls, has now become a symbol of Italian spirit, recognized and loved all over the world. The plot sees Mario and his brother Luigi, also a plumber and Italian, grappling with a series of daring adventures as they have to save Princess Peach from the evil Bowser, the dragon-turtle that threatens the Mushroom Kingdom. The animated film, directed by Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic, has been able to renew and enrich the Super Mario universe, while maintaining fidelity to the original and respecting the identity of the characters created by Shigeru Miyamoto way back in 1985.
