The success of the film was already announced right from the start “Strange D'Amuri” in which Beppe Fiorello invested human and emotional capital by telling the story true story of a crime that occurred in the Sicilian province against a young homosexual couple, haunted by homophobia.

The film, released in Italian cinemas on March 23rd, grossed 1 million euros and Beppe Fiorello won the Silver Ribbon for Best New Director. It was also presented in the list of films competing to represent Italy at the upcoming ones Oscars 2024.

History
Without rhetoric but with an exciting and engaging touch, Beppe Fiorello told the story of friendship and love of Giorgio and Antonio, who in the film have other names (Gianni and Toni) which culminated in tragedy on 31 October 1980 with the death of the two boys. From this event the Arcigay movement was born in Italy for the defense of homosexual rights.
Actors and title
Secret Samuel, a young talent discovered in one of the editions of Friends of Maria De Filippi, plays Gianni, while Gabriele Pizzurro plays the other protagonist of the story, Nino.
The title of the film is a tribute to Franco Battiato, author and performer of this song that the two protagonists of the film sing.
Distribution in the USA
In America the film was presented at the Open Roads festival with the title “Fireworks”, and will then be released in cinemas from next December 19th. Fiorello aims to share the message of the film with a wider segment of the public that also includes the USA to raise awareness of the issue of homophobia and rights without falling into controversy, addressing the delicate topic with an emotional slant.
