for Christmas holidays, Made in Italy bubbles dominate the lunches and dinners on the tables of the Belpaese. A 'good and healthy' habit that certainly favors the traditional producing regions and beyond. In fact, there are more and more wineries that decide to experiment and aim at the production of a wine decisive, capable of conquering the most demanding palates. Production realities now spread from the continent to the islands.

Year-end toast with made in Italy bubbles

The strength of the sparkling wine therefore lies in the great variety and quality that Italian wineries are able to offer every year. Classic labels together with new quality brands that impose themselves on the national and foreign market. For the end of the year dinner, therefore, the bubbles produced in Italy are inevitable, which have nothing to envy to champagne. Prosecco is a variegated universe that contains different worlds, which can be summarized in a sort of hierarchy of quality. It starts from the base, where we find record numbers in terms of production, to get to the top with denominations that are the flagship of national production.

In 2021 a historic record was reached with around 750 million bottles of prosecco sold. The Italians preferred the three versions of prosecco: Doc, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Superiore and Asolo. They are all Veneto vineyards with some cultivation in Friuli Venezia Giulia. Prosecco is generally produced with Martinotti method, i.e. with a refermentation in an autoclave. There is no shortage of champenoise interpretations, i.e. those that adopt the Classic Method. The best grape is instead the Glera. The hope is that last year's record will be broken and that even this year Italians will prefer to greet the new year with bubbles, a product of excellence in the Italian wine sector.
