Tall and cold buildings, the gray of the asphalt and the air stale with chaos and smog can be a deadly combination for our physical and mental health. Fortunately, however, at least in Caserta, the solutions to all this are just a few steps from home.

The city of Caserta, in addition to the immense park of the Royal Palace, offers another green lung not far from the center. We are talking about theOasis of San Silvestro, also known as La Ghiandaia. An area of 100 hectares protected by the WWF, where it is possible to spend whole days amidst nature, art and history. This was in fact the reserve of King Ferdinand IV. A small corner of paradise between San Leucio and Palazzo Reale where the monarch devoted himself to long and intense hunting expeditions. And as for the other symbolic places of the Bourbon period, there is no lack of architectural evidence of the period, giving that something extra to the whole area.
The routes, both day and night, are studied in detail, allowing the visitor not to miss anything. Of importance is the Bioluminescence Path, organized in the nights between May and June, where it is possible to admire the forest illuminated by fireflies. Or the Path of colors, scents and sounds, where you get to know nature and its elements. Inside the Oasis there are also vast picnic areas, a guesthouse where you can stay surrounded by greenery and a museum, located in the Real Casino di San Silvestro.
