AI in school desks, the objectives
So the experimentation has begun. The aim is to fill the gap gap of learning between students with good grades and those with difficulties, with attention to children of foreign origin. Artificial intelligence, in the form of a virtual assistant, will be able to identify the learning difficulties of individual students and report them to both the teacher and the student.
What does the experiment involve?
The trial is expected to last two years. The use of a from software on Google Workspace, initially focused on STEM subjects and foreign languages. The choice of classes is underway by the directors of the School Offices of the regions involved. Afterwards, the approval of school principals and teachers will be necessary, as well as of the students for privacy reasons.
After the experiment: AI in all Italian schools?
At the end of the two-year experiment, Invalsi will evaluate the results of the project, comparing the progress of students in the "digital" classes with those in the "traditional" classes. If the results are positive, the goal is to extend the use of artificial intelligence to all italian schools starting in 2026. “If the model works – added Minister Giuseppe Valditara – we plan to extend it further precisely because the personalization of teaching is one of the musts of my government action in education and I believe that artificial intelligence adequately guided by the teacher can play a significant role”.
