A new national train strike has been called for weekend of 6 and 7 July 2024. The independent trade unions have organized a 24-hour national protest which will involve the staff of the Ferrovie dello Stato Italiane (FS) group. The abstention will begin at 21pm on Saturday 6 July and will end at 21pm on Sunday 7 July, as reported in the official communication from Fs. The note also warns that industrial unrest could cause changes to service both before the start and after the strike ends.

Travelers who intend to cancel their trip due to the announced strike can take advantage of the possibility to request a refund. This request can be made starting from the communication of the union abstention until the departure time of the booked train, in the case of Intercity and Frecce trains.

For the Regional trainsHowever, it is possible to request a refund until 23pm on the day before the scheduled strike date.

Reactions and Criticisms

Massimiliano Dona, president of the National Consumers Union, expressed strong concern about the consequences of the strike announced, underlining the importance of ensuring compliance with current regulations.

Dona has asked the Strike Guarantor to carefully check whether the legal requirements have been respected, including the obligation to at least 10 days notice required by law.
