The Codacons is ready to present a complaint at the Sanremo Festival 2025 if, the rappers and trappers who will go up on stage, they will sing violent lyrics.
The request comes immediately after Carlo Conti, the artistic director, revealed that theThe big names will be announced on December 1st and that, unlike what was previously said, there will be more than 24.
Why Codacons is against Carlo Conti
The complete cast of singers who will participate in the next Festival will be announced in the next few days, but, indiscreet rumors, announce the participation of some big names, including the rapper Tony Effe who, in the past, has distinguished himself for songs with sexist and offensive lyrics towards women or that incite young people to violence, as Codacons claims.
According to the association that protects the rights of consumers and users, Rai cannot bring artists on the Sanremo stage who send out incorrect, counter-educational and dangerous messages, especially for the youngest, especially in a historical moment like the one we are experiencing, in which the fight against gender violence, bullying and feminicide it is a priority in Italy too.
These are the reasons of Codacons, which also launches an attack on the music world in general.
La criticizes is aimed at everyone. The record labels, radio stations and the same singers who duet with controversial rappers and who declare themselves against violence against women, are considered inconsistent because the words do not coincide with the facts as they praise and bring to success pseudo-artists who, in their lyrics, transform women into objects or contain insults and sexist phrases.
According to Codacons, this is a hypocritical and intolerable attitude that must end as soon as possible.
Codacons is ready to report
These are the reasons why the Codacons formally warns Rai and Carlo Conti and intends to introduce a sort of 'daspo' at Sanremo 2025 for artists who do not meet certain criteria and invites female singers not to participate in the Festival if rappers or trappers who have written songs with content that is harmful to women are accepted into the competition.
If they go on the stage of Sanremo artists with violent lyrics, Codacons is ready to file a complaint with the Public Prosecutor's Office for the possible case of inducing violence against women, and will ask for the singers to be removed from the Ligurian city analogy to what is provided for by art. 282 bis of the Code of Criminal Procedure.
