The Ministry of Health report highlights the disparities in quality of healthcare between the different Italian regions. According to the recent report of the New Guarantee System, which evaluates the Essential Levels of Assistance (LEA), over 16 million Italians, especially in the southern regions, receive insufficient care in at least one of the three main sectors: hospitals, local healthcare and prevention. The ministry's "report cards" promote 13 regions. In detail the regions with the best and worst care.
Regions better and worse care
Il Ministry Guarantee System monitors regional health services through 88 indicators, of which 22 are considered "core" due to their importance. These indicators include childhood vaccination coverage, the diffusion of oncological screening, the hospital capacity to intervene quickly in the event of femur fractures and the effectiveness of the 118 service in emergencies.
The most recent update, for 2022, assigns a minimum score of 60 points for passability in each of the three areas assessed. Among the rejected regions are mainly eight regions and autonomous provinces in the South.

The Autonomous Province of Bolzano, Abruzzo and Molise are deficient in the prevention area, while Campania is insufficient in the district area.
Critical issues, indicators and promoted regions
Some of the most worrying indicators concern lifestyles, with critical situations throughout Southern Italy and an increase in health risk behaviors.
