Starting from today, October 23rd, until May 14th, the Ennio Morricone auditorium of the Tor Vergata University will host the Roman concert season.

Sixteen concerts and a program that ranges from symphonic to electronic music, from chamber to choral music and traditional songs from the Italian regions are those planned in the new season of the Roma Sinfonietta proposed by artistic director Luigi Lanzillotta, one of which is dedicated to film music and the great composer Ennio Morricone.

The one that will take place in the Capital is one of the most important concert seasons due to the high quality of the performers who will perform, all Italian, chosen among famous artists and emerging young people.

Il Opening concert on October 23rd will see the performance of theRome Sinfonietta Orchestra who accompanies the young woman Yuki Serino, winner of international prizes including the prestigious one at the “Città di Cremona” International Violin Competition.

The concert dedicated to Ennio Morricone

The November 13th the concert dedicated to the great maestro Ennio Morricone to whom Roma Sinfonietta dedicated the auditorium of the University of Rome “Tor Vergata” when the composer was still alive, in honor of the collaboration that took place several times between the composer and the orchestra in many concerts around the world.

The concert will feature jazz artist Ada Montellanico, the Ialsax Saxophone Quartet and pianist Antonello Maio, who will perform his own music and that of other film music composers, such as Piovani and Bacalov.

The concert dedicated to the music of the regions of Italy on December 4th will be curated by Giorgio Adamo, professor of ethnomusicology at the University “Tor Vergata” and, this year, will focus on Calabria.

Concerts scheduled for 2025

Il February 26, 2025 the concert entitled will open “Gospel Music, between history and contemporaneity: traditional African-American music”, which ranges from spirituals to traditional gospel, from protest songs from the Civil Rights Movement to contemporary Christian music.

Il 12 March there will be thehomage to Milva sung by Petra Magoni accompanied by pianist Andrea Dindo.

The concert on March 19th will be titled “Four Pictures by Kafka” in which the performers will be Marco Betta, Giovanni Costantini, Giorgio Nottoli and Riccardo Santoboni who will perform compositions based on texts taken from “A Country Doctor”, a collection of 14 stories written by Franz Kafka and dedicated to his father.

The concert of 26 March features the first cello Gabriele Geminiani and the pianist Monaldo Braconi who will perform music by Debussy, Shostakovich and Simonide Braconi.

On 9 and 10 April they will take place two concerts of the String Quartet of the Teatro alla Scala dedicated to Beethoven.

The 16 April the Orchestra Roma Sinfonietta and the singers Sabrina Cortese and Lucia Napoli perform two “Stabat Mater”, one by Pergolesi and the other by Matteo D'Amico, dedicated to the memory of Pietro Borsellino.

The 30 April Roma Sinfonietta, conducted by Vincenzo Bolognese, will perform music dedicated to “La musica demoniaca”, based on music that evokes devils, witches by Boccherini, Tartini and Paganini.

Il 7st May the concert entitled will take place “The Belle Époque between France and Italy” with chamber lyrics and piano pieces by Fauré, Debussy and Respighi performed by mezzo-soprano Lucia Napoli and pianist Antonello Maio.

L'last appointment is expected for the 14st May with the shortened version of Verdi's “La Traviata”, sung by Rosanna Angotti, Lorenzo Martelli and Marco Severin and conducted by Gabriele Bonolis.

Symphonic, chamber, jazz, gospel and opera in the new season of the Roma Sinfonietta that will satisfy the musical tastes of all music lovers.
