The legendary history of the Fortress of the Dragon (Rock you Dràku) becomes a Cartoon. A movie that, starring “Nonno Pietro”, promotes the Aspromonte Park Authority (in the heart of Calabria) through the iconic molite located between Bova and Roghudi Vecchio.
The idea of the cartoon about the Rocca del Drago
La Rocca Del Drago is a curious and attractive one monolith of mysterious origins, located on the slopes ofAspromonte between Bova and Roghudi Vecchio. Dating back to the prehistoric era, the mysterious stone shows two circular grooves, created by erosion and similar to two eyes. It is from this particularity that the name "Rocca del Drago" was born. How did it become a cartoon? The idea is the result of the Promotion and Use service of the Aspromonte Park Authority. Which, in collaboration with a team of local professionals, has created a short film lasting 10 minutes. The affectionate relationship between grandfather and grandson explains the origin of Aspromonte and everyone, young and old, can have fun and learn. The unique talking stone, animated by innovative 3D techniques, will accompany the little spectators along the Aspromonte mountains, explaining why they are a treasure of the territory. Furthermore, the short documentary aims to raise people's awareness of the respect and protection of the Aspromonte Geopark, a Unesco heritage site.
A child-friendly project
As part of some environmental education projects for students, Nonno Pietro's animated video will also be shown in schools. While, an extended version, will be broadcast permanently in a room of the headquarters of the Bova Geopark. As explained by Leo Auteliano, President of the Aspromonte National Park, the short film wants to address to the little ones through their language, bringing the new generations closer and closer to the institutions. Auteliano also goes on to affirm how education and training activities, aimed at sustainable development of the territory, stimulate processes of change in the youngest, making them aware of their history, and of how important it is to preserve and protect the natural heritage.
