Il Rome Christmas brings a splendid gift to citizens: the municipal rose garden reopens. This sensational space, which hosts types of roses from all over the world, is ready to be visited again.
Rose garden in Rome: what to see
This garden is located at the foot of the Aventine and houses an enviable botanical collection. The large green area is divided into two sectors, one larger than the other. The largest space is dedicated to the collection which includes botanical, modern and ancient roses. Here you can discover the history and evolution of the rose, one of the most famous and loved flowers in the world, from ancient times to the present day. The other sector, on the other hand, contains only the roses participating in the “Rome Prize for New Varieties” competition, whose birth dates back to 1933.
The Councilor for Agriculture, Environment and Waste Cycle of Rome also expressed its opinion on this matter, Sabrina Alfonsi: “Il Roseto boasts 1200 varieties. It is a treasure of beauty, colors and scents. Its reopening is a much awaited appointment. This area will add further wonder on the occasion of the 80th edition of the International Competition for New Varieties of Roses Rome Prize, which will be held on May 21 ”.
Anyone wishing to indulge in a particular walk, visiting the splendid Rose Garden of Rome, given back to the population, will only have to go to the following address: via Valle Murcia 6. Admission is free and free every day of the week, from 8.30 to 19.30. Doors open to anyone until next June 12th. No reservation or ticket is required.
