These days, several news are arriving regarding piracy in football. A problem that persists not only in Italy, but in all European nations. In fact, Italy is not even first among the nations with the most illegal streaming and, at the moment, the Belpaese is among the "least illegal" countries.
This week's news is of a 5-year arrest for a promoter of illegal streaming (read on the in-depth analysis). A decision that has been much talked about with a certainly very heavy penalty. Now comes another news regarding illegal channels.
Piracy: Largest Illegal Channel Shut Down
This time the news comes directly from Spain. The Guardia Civil has closed the largest illegal channel with over 78 thousand users who used its broadcasts. The authorities have proceeded to block and eliminate all the channels involved.
This is part of the note, reported by calcioefinanza.it: “Through the Kodi player or multimedia center, which allows you to organize and play different types of digital content (video, images and audio) in deferred, online or streaming mode, investigators discovered that one of the extensions or add-ons, created by a developer external to the platform, allowed free viewing of football matches from the First and Second Divisions of Spain. […] Finally, the investigations carried out allowed a specific user of the platform to be identified as the person responsible. The operation ended with the indictment of a 37-year-old man for a crime related to the market and consumers, responsible for a fraud of 42.547.104 euros."
