New phase in the fight against sports piracy with the introduction of the anti-pezzotto platform. A platform that should have come into action today, during the race between Juventus e Napoli but which will officially start at the end of January.
As reported by the corriere.it website, the digital platform that will fight the piracy of sports content was created in a very short time, within six months of the approval of the law (approved last July).
The piece, i.e. the illegal tool that allows you to watch all sports at very low costs compared to legal platforms, fuels a loss for Italian football which amounts to around 350 million euros every year. This is why this new anti-piecemeal platform is literally necessary to economically save Italian football. The growth is enormous: there was an increase of 26% from 2021 to 2022, and even 178% compared to 2017. There are 3 million subscribers to illegal IPTVs, 6% of the Italian population over 15 years of age. Piracy is currently a crime that is punished with imprisonment from one to four years and a fine from 2.500 to 15 thousand euros, but has so far been difficult to locate, especially on the web.
Anti-piece platform: blockage in 30 minutes
From now on, the blocking of illegal IP addresses will take place within 30 minutes from their identification, while the police must be able to trace the people involved in the illicit use of the contents. To make the intervention effective, all providers must have automated the blocking procedure.
