Easter 2023 sold out for foreign tourism in Italy. Italy is sold out with holidaymakers from Europe and overseas; a flow at record levels for the first half of April. This is attested by a survey conducted by Cna Turismo e Commercio among the members of the association from all over Italy. Overall there are about 3 million tourists who stay at least one night in hotels or non-hotel facilities during the current Easter holidays.
Sold out
The hope is to reach, if not even exceed, the levels of 2019, the last tourist season before the pandemic emergency. Over 2 million Italians are on holiday throughout the boot, around a million foreigners. For an overall economic movement that reaches 4 billion euros, obviously excluding the contribution of local excursionists who limit their vacation to a single day trip. Among these also the 'Sunday vacationers' who go to second homes by the sea or in the mountains.
The countries of origin from which the greatest number of foreign tourists arrived in Italy are, as far as Europe is concerned, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, Spain and the Netherlands. As regards the other continents, the United States of America, Canada, Japan, the rest of Asia and in general the Mediterranean and Middle Eastern area. Thanks above all to the contribution of the foreign influx, the cities and villages of art are destined to experience an excellent moment. Among the cities to excel as an attractive destination there are Venice, Rome, Milan, Florence, Naples. Also in great dust Turin and Palermo, Catania and Verona, Genoa and Ravenna. But the desire for beauty will not stop at cities.
The new destinations of Italian tourism
This year, holidaymakers are also discovering new areas, urban centers and small towns in regions such as the Marche, Umbria, Abruzzo, Basilicata, Molise. Nature in turn carves out its own space with the sea of Puglia, Calabria, Sicily, Sardinia or the mountains of the Alps. In addition to the many attractions (artistic, naturalistic, agri-food, artisanal) tourism is also driven by experiential activities in areas that are usually less frequented. Lifestyles and customs in which the value of essentiality is literally rediscovered, of the simplicity of everyday life punctuated by natural rhythms, without frenzy and without stress.
