The initiative is underway “Let's rediscover the historic center of Nicastro”, a cultural and tourist itinerary of the city of Lamezia Terme. The event is a collaboration between Arci Civil Service volunteers "Culture and Tourism in Lamezia" and the Municipal AdministrationA walk through the historical and natural beauties of the old Nicastro districts.

The initiative “Let's rediscover the historic center of Nicastro” will develop through a series of guided toursThe aim is to shine a spotlight on cultural and natural beauties of the city, to ensure that they become tourist and promotional attractions. Guided tours will take place on 27-28-29-30 December 2021 and 3-4-5 January 2022Each visit will last approximately two hours and will offer participants the opportunity to take a suggestive route, discovering or rediscovering the neighborhoods of the historic center of the former municipality of Nicastro. In fact, the chosen itinerary will allow, in the highest part, to admire the enchanting landscape of our city and of the Castello Normanno-Svevo that towers over it. In this way, it will be possible to rediscover ancient bonds whose echoes still resonate along the alleys of the historic center, with the silent flow of the river in the background, as it runs alongside it.
The itinerary to rediscover the city's historical and natural beauties
For each day there are planned two visiting shifts, at 10:30 and 16:00. Both with departure in the upper part of the village of San Teodoro, on Norman Street, from the side of the entrance at the back of the Norman-Swabian Castle. You will then reach the little church of the Veterana (called Cucchiarelle) and then descend, via a pleasant path along the Canne river, towards the Niola fountainFrom here we will continue, always downhill, through the alleys of the San Teodoro neighborhoods, Saint Lucia and Timpone. The walk it will close atla statue of Frederick II in Via Garibaldi. Before the route in the historic center, it is possible to make a visit to the Ancient Mill and the Fairy Woods, located a few meters from the starting point. This is thanks to the support and presence of the members of thecultural Association “Ancient Fairy Mill”, following the times indicated on the poster.

Guided tours They will be held in full compliance with current anti-Covid-19 regulations. Participants are encouraged to have a spirit of healthy adventure and wear comfortable, athletic gear. Therefore, water, PPE (mask and sanitizing gel), shoes, and suitable clothing will be essential. An alternative visit route is planned for people with mobility difficulties..
