Easter in red like Christmas, this seems to be the orientation of the national government regarding the anti-Covid restrictions for the upcoming Easter holidays. The new measures to combat the contagion from Covid will be decided and announced in advance of their entry into force. Government sources confirm this, according to which it is therefore very difficult that any decisions adopted in the Council of Ministers tomorrow, Friday, will already apply for next weekend.

A hypothesis on the table is also that the measures are no longer adopted through a Dpcm but with a provision of law, which could be a decree or a bill. Legislation to be approved with a fast track and very short deadlines in Parliament, to ensure full involvement of the Chambers. The main novelty should be the parameter for the automatic entry into the red zone of the Regions that exceed 250 infections per 100 thousand inhabitants. And the extension of the ban on travel between Regions, currently in force until March 27, should also arrive.

In this regard, a new control room of the premier could be convened as soon as possible Mario Draghi with ministers and experts. The awareness that emerged is that the contagion data are worrying and worsening. To slow the curve, the government would be considering the options indicated by the Scientific Technical Committee, starting with a tightening of measures on weekends.

A squeeze is expected, particularly on Easter weekend but not everyone agrees. The situation worsens and the yellow zone measures struggle to contain the growth of infections caused by the variants of Covid. It is also likely that restrictions will be set throughout Italy from the red zone for the Easter weekend. But among the ministers there are those, starting with Roberto Speranza, who are pushing to strengthen the closures immediately throughout the national territory, not just on weekends.

“Our scientists are asking us to take stricter measures and I believe that is right. We have not easy weeks ahead of us - the Minister of Health reiterated - but also the confidence of vaccines that are finally available. We are about to exceed the threshold of 6 million administrations carried out ".

And on the contrary, there are those who would not want to penalize restaurants and shops again, not even in the weekend. The majority and minority parties on this point still do not find the square. Therefore, a supplement of reflection is needed: the new data will be evaluated and we will return to compare in the next few hours with the Regions. Then Draghi will meet the Council of Ministers to decide how to proceed.

Meanwhile, according to data released by the Ministry of Health, there are new positive cases today 25.673 (yesterday 22.409). The new deaths are 373 (yesterday 332). The discharged healed today are 15mila (yesterday 13.752); altogether the new positive cases are 497. 350 (yesterday 487.074). The swabs carried out are 372.217, the ICU patients are 2.859 while they remain in home isolation 471.244 people infected with Coronavirus.
