TVBOY, real name Salvatore Benentende, is the protagonist of one of the most anticipated Milanese exhibitions at the end of 2021. Mudec Photo hosts for the first time an exhibition dedicated to the Italian street artist, capable of reinterpreting reality with his satirical and reflective gaze.

The origins of the exhibition

TVBOY is one of the main exponents in the world of movement Street Art of Neo Pop matrix. An artist who, from the street, has made his entrance into the main museums: from Rome to Milan, passing through the Netherlands, Spain and England, up to the United States, his works bring colors and reflections to every corner of the globe. Now, Mudec Photo has set up one exhibition in 70 works to tell about his genius. An exhibition itinerary ad free entry, produced by 24 ORE Cultura - 24 ORE Group and promoted by the Municipality of Milano-Cultura. The exhibition, curated by the contemporary art journalist Nicolas Ballario, it's open until January 9. And it is an unmissable opportunity to get to know the work of the Palermo artist up close.

How did the idea of ​​"TVBOY - The exhibition“? It was all random. On the occasion of the exhibition that Mudec dedicated to aa Banksy in 2018 ("A Visual Protest. The Art of Banksy"), TVBOY made a protest murals on the surrounding wall of the museum, in via Tortona 56. The work, which can still be admired today, portrays a street artist from behind and hooded. A reflection on the Official / Un-official dualism, which referred to the fact that - the Banksy exhibition inside the museum - was not official. That was the beginning of a dialogue between the museum and the artist, which resulted in a live performance whose proceeds supported "A wall that unites", a project for the construction of two open-air galleries dedicated to Guido Crepax and Diabolik.

What do we know about "TVBOY - The exhibition"

"The exhibition will allow a wider audience to discover how street art is a public phenomenon and, at the same time, an artistic work based on political and social reflection linked to our contemporaneity”Declared the Councilor for Culture of the Municipality of Milan Tommaso Sacchi. The four thematic paths retrace the four themes explored by TVBOY: Kisses, Art, Power, Heroes. Kisses, which for him are a form of dialogue, have made him famous throughout the world. The Power is intended as the ironic representation of its exponents, while the Heroes are his personal ones.

"TVBOY breaks down the boundaries between disciplines and pushes us towards abandoning a sterile vision of the world by categories, both for the techniques or tools it uses, and for the contents it deals with, talking about racism, discrimination, environment, climate, cinema , sport, religion, violence, sex, death, immigration, love, friendship, power, heroes, art”Explained Bellario. The exhibition, with free admission, is open on Mondays from 14.30pm to 19.30pm; Wednesday, Friday and Sunday from 9.30 to 19.30; Thursday and Saturday from 9.30 to 22.30.
