The rebirth of Italian cinema

2016 was a year of great successes for Italian cinema. They called him Jeeg Robot e As fast as the wind they turned out to be excellent films, embellished even more by the unusual genre in which they are placed. In fact, both deal with themes that are certainly not classic for Italian cinema, such as the world of superheroes or that of car racing. AND My explores another genre hardly beaten by Italian cinema: that of the psychological thriller.

Mine: an engaging film

My is set during the war in Afghanistan and stars actor Armie Hammer.
While on a mission, a young soldier accidentally lands on a landmine. Once triggered, the bomb is designed to detonate at the exact moment the foot lifts off it. This will force the protagonist to remain totally motionless waiting for the rescue provided two days later. The wait is thus immediately unnerving, plunging the soldier into a spiral of thoughts and psychological stress.
The isolation and physical exhaustion due to not being able to move will lead the way in the development of the film. In fact, the crucial moments in the soldier's life that brought him to Afghanistan will be retraced. All seasoned with the fight against heat, cold and the dangers that will arise while waiting for the bomb squad.

An unexpected success?

Released last October 6, My he immediately placed himself among the first places in the first weekend of programming.
The two directors Fabio Guaglione and Fabio Resinaro saw their (first) film gross over 600.000 in a few days, making My one of the best beginnings of recent years.
A work embellished by international collaborations with a top-level cast, such as Armie Hammer or producer Peter Safran.
The two Milanese authors have also entered a genre that is far from the Italian cinematographic tradition. Going to read the profile of the film it seems to be in front of a Hollywood production, far from our local tradition.
So all that remains is to go to the cinema and enjoy the new Made in Italy success.
