Today, Sunday 13 August, the exodus of Ferragosto reaches its maximum peak. Heavy traffic is expected on Italian roads and motorways, with a black dot. From 7.00 to 22.00 there is a ban on the transit of heavy vehicles. You travel in the heat and sultriness to reach the tourist destinations where you can spend your holidays or stay for a few days. In anticipation of the increase in traffic flows, already from yesterday, Anas has closed the active construction sites along its network. There are 811 those who will remain suspended until the first weekend of September. However, there have been queues and accidents, such as the one on the A1 Milano Napoli, which involved seven cars on the stretch between Anagni and Colleferro but which, fortunately, did not cause any deaths.
The sections concerned and the other dates to be taken into consideration
The mid-August exodus affects the whole peninsula to some extent. In a southerly direction, the sections involved are the main routes towards the holiday resorts, in particular along the Adriatic, Tyrrhenian and Ionian ridges. The same goes for border crossings in the direction of France, Slovenia and Croatia, and leaving urban centres. Slowdowns and queues also at the embarkations of Villa San Giovanni for Sicily.
Also not to be underestimated is the traffic returning to the cities, starting from this afternoon, which will concentrate above all on the evening of Tuesday 15th, the day of August 20th. Another day of heavy traffic is scheduled for Sunday XNUMX August, a date which, for many Italians, will coincide with the end of the holidays. Enjoy your outward or return journey, therefore, and don't forget to be careful when driving.
