Weather: The hottest weekend of 2024 is coming

A new heat wave is about to arrive in Italy.

The weekend of August 10th and 11th will be the hottest weekend of the yearAccording to experts, temperatures with peaks of up to 43 degrees in the South and 40 in the North.

Thunderstorms are expected in the afternoon in the Alpine and Apennine mountains, but also in other areas of the country.

The extreme heat should affect Italy until August 15th, then the weather will start to worsen, starting from the North.

The forecasts in detail

• The Charon anticyclone is bringing temperatures gradually increasing and, according to experts, in the weekend in the South there will be peaks of up to 43 degrees and 40 in the North.
• On the Alps and Apennines and not only are they also expected heat storms, especially in the afternoon.
  

The hottest weekend of the year

The next weekend, therefore, according to experts, will most likely be the hottest of the year: peaks of 43 degrees are expected in the South, 40 in the North. High pressure of subtropical origin reigns supreme over Italy also in these days, but between Saturday 10th and Sunday 11th it will reach its peak. In the North, peaks of 40°C will mainly affect Emilia Romagna, while in the South it will rise again to 42-43°C, especially in the internal areas of Sicily and Sardinia.

Sub-tropical high pressure

The new advance of sub-tropical high pressure, as the experts explain, will bring a new surge in thermal values ​​thanks to the air masses coming from the Sahara desert, therefore, already from Wednesday the temperature they will go up up to 36°C in Rome, Ferrara, Terni and Foggia, 35°C in Modena, Florence and Mantua, up to 35°C also in Bolzano and Bologna.

According to meteorologists this will be just the beginning of the new heat wave which will affect Italy at least until next week.

The bulletin of the Ministry of Health

According to the heat wave report released by the Ministry of Health, no red stickers are foreseen for August 7th, but only orange ones for Campobasso, Frosinone, Latina, Perugia and Rome. 

For theAugust 8th, however, it is expected the red sticker in Perugia and Rome ed orange in Brescia, Campobasso, Florence, Frosinone, Latina and Rieti.
