Christmas is coming and also the desire to go and visit the markets that offer all sorts of merchandise linked to the most heartfelt party of the year. The markets create a fairy setting that transports young and old into the rarefied Christmas atmosphere. Born in northern Europe, Christmas markets have now become a custom also in Italy where there are many cities and small towns that set them up in their main squares.

Christmas markets

Surely the best known in Italy are those ofSouth Tyrol which are also the oldest and most traditional on the peninsula. The longest-running and largest market in Italy is that of Bolzano. Throughout the Trentino the Christmas markets invariably follow the centuries-old Teutonic tradition. In fact, the Christmas markets were born in the Middle Ages in Germany and in Alsace and since then the custom has never ceased.

These, just to name a few. In reality, the whole peninsula, from mid-November until Epiphany, will dress up with the characteristic Christmas stands. From decorations to typical gastronomic products, passing through handcrafted creations that constitute a very particular artistic production.
