It is the foundation born 10 years ago from an idea of Luciano Benetton to create a mapping, as broad as possible, of the various contemporary artistic experiences of our world. Edited by Solomia Savchuk, Head of Contemporary Art at the Mystetskyi Arsenal in Kiev, the project builds on the historical-political events that took place in Ukraine in 2014. Today, following theRussian offensive in Ukraine, it acquires the value of a necessary and dramatic reflection on the ongoing conflict.

Full solidarity with Ukraine

“This moment requires great choices but also small and concrete gestures of solidarity. The Maxxi exhibition is important not only for the proceeds given to organizations that help people on the run but also because Ukraine is not very well known in Italy. The great contribution is also to make known the art and history of this country ".

Giovanna Melandri, president of the Maxxi Foundation he pointed out: “Here are the works of 140 artists who worked in 2014, after the Maidan square uprising. If you look at these works you understand that even then the artists were wondering about peace and war. On identity and geopolitical positioning, underlining the breath of freedom. But there is also the European aspiration of the Ukrainian people that the artists help us to understand with their works ”.
