Eleonora moved to London three years ago. She had a baby born just two months (now she is 3 years old and a 9 month old sister). He has experienced what it is like to be alone with a young child in a huge city where you don't know anyone and where your partner only comes home in the evening. So she worked hard to get to know other mothers with children. Today it organizes parties for Italian families. With a great obiettivo: raise funds for build a hospital in Italy that follows the Maes therapy approach to treat children with movement and motor development difficulties due to neuronal causes. A form of treatment that is based on the personalization of treatment and an early start. The mascot: Taliaa whirlpool bath, Mary Poppins Italian in London.

An Italian Mary Poppins in London: London's solitude
In Italy you were an established professional. Why did you move here?
I had a'import / export company, which three years ago I was closing. I was also the president of CNA Young Entrepreneurs of the province. In parallel, I have always cultivated my great passion for music. I have engraved a disco as a songwriter from Mogol in 2012 and collaborated with him on several occasions prior to my departure. Then, when my first child was only two months old, I moved to London, Canary Wharf, for love.
It wasn't easy, I guess.
In my life I have traveled a lot and I had also seen London, but I didn't like it. When I moved here I experienced what it's like being alone with a child, so I looked for groups of other moms and activities to do with my baby. So I started collaborating with Mumsnet, so I was an “ambassador” looking for courses and activities for mothers and families in the areas of Canary Wharf and Greenwich. Like this I met some Italian mothers with whom I made friends. We are twelve and still now we see every week.
An Italian Mary Poppins in London: a great project
Thus was born the idea of Talia and the suitcase of ideas.
Already in Italy I have always been involved in organizing children's parties and musical and artistic sessions. In London, first collaborating with Mumsnet, then together with another mom that I had known here, Sara, I started organizing parties for Italian families driven by the desire to share and pass on Italian culture to our children. These are occasions, which follow the calendar of Italian holidays, such as Father's Day that we did in mid-March, for Italian and bilingual children, in which to play together and meet. But also speaking Italian, listening to music, following animated readings and doing activities of art & craft with recycled materials.
Does the inspiration come from Mary Poppins?
A movie that I loved. Talia it is, as the name implies, one all Italian nanny. And very special. With children legge, sing, invent. With her you learn by playing and sharing. From his bag he takes out many things, to involve the children.
With the project Talia and the suitcase of ideas we promote be the Language that the popular culture through play and the development of creativity. But also offer to parents a space in which to create one community, find sharing, comparison and support. But also, and above all, where to have fun with your children.
An Italian Mary Poppins in London: an ambitious goal
The holidays have a goal that goes beyond the immediate.
Yes. Since January we have created one charity that raises funds to support the Master therapy. We met through a friend who had turned to this form of treatment for his son. The funds we raise through the holidays are used to finance both the physiotherapists who participate in the courses to learn the techniques, and - and this is a goal that we hope to achieve within 10 years - the construction of a hospital. Today, anyone who wants to try this therapy for their children must come to London. In Italy there is no such thing. With people qualified to practice it and then a dedicated hospital, we want to allow Italian families to treat their children without leaving the country.
Fortunately we have a number of support. We contacted the Italian consulate in London, an architecture studio made available to create the project for the hospital, la London One radio it acts as a sounding board for our events, as well as the Italian school in London. Who helps us a lot is also The Italian Bookshop, who brings books to read during our holidays. AND, last but not least, the focacceria Fugassa Woman, which provides us with catering and sometimes spaces.
