In light of the current situation, it is clear that "the next ten years will be decisive in stopping climate change, in preventing a new world war. And, again, get out of the social and economic crisis that the pandemic has unfortunately exacerbated. The next decade will be one in which we will finally have to apply the ecological transition. Just as we will have to democratize the digital revolution, also to prevent new large migrations ".

We must develop - they exhort - a mentality and a culture of 'taking care' capable of defeating the indifference, waste and rivalry that unfortunately prevail". The cure is for the younger generations, for the school, for the others. Care for the planet, the common good and common goods must be increasingly targeted and intensive. Of course, at the basis of everything there is the care of human rights, of the principles and values ​​of democracy. "There is a need - add the creators of the manifestation of a politics and an economy of care ”.

Since 1961, therefore for sixty years now, hundreds of thousands of people from all over the world have gathered in Umbria to participate in the peace march that leads from Perugia to Assisi.. The purpose of the initiative is to promote and protect respect for the most important universal values ​​and rights. The event is the symbol of the commitment in favor of principles and values ​​that are the founding basis of the democratic and peaceful coexistence between men. Justice, freedom, equality, solidarity, fraternity.

A wealth of values ​​which, hopefully, will become a heritage of humanity recognized byUn. In this regard, the pacifist movement organizing the event launches the appeal on its platform “because we want everyone to reaffirm the centrality of these values ​​and rights. We don't want individualism, nationalism, competition, racism and hatred to prevail. Because - they conclude - the construction of peace and fraternity must become a daily commitment of each and every one ”.
