Luciano Pavarotti, the Italian tenor among the most famous artists of all time, will have a star on the Hollywood Walk of fame. As usual, it is assigned by the Chamber of Commerce of the American city, a 'mecca' of cinema. This is an important and further recognition for the great art of Pavarotti who, with his powerful voice, enchanted the audience of the most prestigious international theaters. Disappeared in 2007, Luciano Pavarotti is now a myth, an immortal voice for world of opera and for the Italian culture loved all over the world.
A star for Luciano Pavarotti
The star-laying ceremony is scheduled for August 24, 2022 at 11.30am (Los Angeles time) at 7065 Hollywood Blvd. The event will be broadcast live exclusively on walkoffame.com. The tenor's daughter, Cristina Pavarotti, will be present to receive the prestigious award, also on behalf of the other daughters of the artist: Lorenza, Giuliana and Alice Pavarotti. And of the second wife Nicoletta Mantovani. For the occasion there will also be the conductor James Conlon, musical director of the Opera di Los Angeles, who has had a long relationship of professional collaboration and friendship with the artist.
Walk of fame
The ceremony will be accompanied by a series of celebratory events called “Luciano Pavarotti, the Star”, organized in the Californian metropolis for 24 and 25 August. These initiatives are produced and curated by Cinzia Salvioli's Italian film production house Albedo Production together with Paolo Rossi Pisu's Genoma Films and Silvia Bizio, Anna Manunza and Cecilia Miniucchi. To support this great event also the Ministry of Culture, the Emilia-Romagna Region, the Municipality of Modena (birthplace of Pavarotti) and also that of Pesaro. The Rossini Opera Festival also offered its contribution.
Italian excellences in the USA
The Italian delegation will be welcomed in Los Angeles on August 23 with a reception at the Institute Italian of Culture (IIC) and under the auspices of Consulate General of Italy in Los Angeles. The heart of the celebrations will be the screening of two Italian audiovisual testimonies, never broadcast in the United States. In addition, on August 24 in Italy, on the day the star was laid on the Hollywood Walk of fame, Rai Cultura will dedicate the first evening of Rai 5 to Luciano Pavarotti, broadcasting the performance of Giuseppe Verdi's Requiem Mass of 1970 in the restored version. A great tribute to an immense and unparalleled artist, a great Italian who has truly conquered the whole world with his extraordinary talent.
